Tuesday Miles spent most of the day at the doctor. We went by Longs Drugs after camp to pick up his meds. Pictured above is Mark picking out some “Hawaiian Treats”. The guys and I have enjoyed trying the different kinds of foods in Hawai’i. None of us were big fans of poki–a type of raw fish. It is not nearly as fun to not have Miles at day camp; but we are glad he is getting better.
I am continuing to move things into the house. It’s an awfully great adventure!
Miles is sick with a virus
. He had to miss day camp today to rest. The guys and I cooked our first meal at the townhouse Sunday night, and Mark, Cordray, and I enjoyed leftovers tonight. We finished our dinner by putting grapes behind our top lips. Oh the fun to be had on the lanai (porch in Hawaiian).
Summer Fun is continuing to go well. Each of us fall in love with a different kid everyday. After camp, we usually swap favorite kids of the day. We are constantly encouraged by the love of the campers: their joy, hugs, laughter, excitement, friendliness, beautiful voices, etc. No wonder Jesus wanted the little children to come to Him!
We are singing “I’ve Got a River of Life” as one of our camp songs. I was talking with one of the groups today about what the song means, and a camper quickly replied “Well, river of life is like sweat!” The Holy Spirit is equipping us for everything God calls us to–and sometimes that does make us sweat!
The Middleton’s took the guys and I out on their boat this Sunday afternoon. Rosalie has my picture of the day on her camera–I need to get it from her so I can post it on here. We had a good time tubing and relaxing on the boat–what a way to spend our afternoon!

Prepping by computer and candle light...
I moved into the townhouse today! The guys have been so helpful in transitioning me to the house. It is nice to have a place where, I believe, we all fell comfortable. Due to lack of furniture and lighting, we planned our Sunday school lesson on the floor, by candle and computer light!

Kimmy
Today, I was outside taking pictures of water day and Dawson came up to me, pointed at the object pictured above, and said “THAT should be your picture of the day DB!” So, alas, Miles has made the picture of the day yet again. Let it be known that we did, successfully, get the tiny, wet shirt off of him!
I have some beautiful pictures of the kids, but only feel comfortable posting pictures of my friends’ kids on the blog. Please do know, however, that day camp does not only consist of funny moments and memories made by the leaders! The kids keep us laughing each day.

Face-to-face with a roach

YMCA
Thursday morning Mark walked ahead of Miles and myself to the office. When Miles and I turned the corner outside, Mark was squatting down looking intently at something on the sidewalk. “Come over here you two.” he said with great care. “It’s time to face your fears.” So that morning, at 7 am, Miles and I starred into the face–a belly–of a roach.
We are having a great time with the kids! We spend a good amount of time dancing with the campers. I hope you enjoy the picture of Miles gettin’ his groove on!
The guys helped me paint some of the townhouse today! It’s looking like I will be moving in this weekend at some point. Let the home-renters journey begin!

Bishop Museum
The Summer Fun gang went on our first “excursion” today to Bishop Museum–and we survived! Here is a picture from the day. I also did my first walk through of the place where Natalie and I will be living. It has been an exhausting, but fun day.

Cordray, Dawson, and Daryn Leigh
The guys and I are so thankful for the Vorderbruegge family. We had great converstaion, food, and fun at their house on Tuesday evening. Amy even packed our lunch for our excursion on Wednesday for day camp. We have so many “ohanas” (families) here on the island–one of the many things God continues to provide.

Car ride entertainment
We have had 3 cds to listen to these past two weeks: 2 Jack Johnson cds and the new Iron and Wine cd. They have served as a good sound track to our first 1/5 of the summer, however we have found blank cds and our own mix cds have taken over the car ride entertainment!

Garage Sale.
The Golden Bullet is currently also serving as my storage unit, until I am able to move into the townhouse. The guys are being so patient with all the random boxes of stuff from the church garage sale in the van!
